What is foam sheeting?

Foam or sponge can be defined as a substance that has been formed by trapping many gas bubbles in a solid. There are many different types of foam available. Our foam sheet is generally used for air or water filtration, draught sealing solutions, sound deadening, thermal insulation, cusioning, sealing and packaging. 

Foams range from low density, to medium density, through to high density. They either portray an open cell structure designed for air and water filtration, and sound and noise reduction purposes or a closed cell structure for heat insulation and water absorption prevention. Self adhesive backing can be applied to any foam. Furthermore, food quality as well as flame retardant grades are available in certain foams where required.

In fact we can supply foam sheeting to suit any application ranging from acoustic foam sheet with a Class O fire rating for all your sound deadening applications, right through to silicone sponge strip for high temperature sealing around fires and cookers.

All colours of foam sheet can be manufactured depending on overall quantity required. Common medium grade neoprene foam sheet and EPDM foam sheet are produced in white and black colours, however polyethylene (PE) sheet is available in a variety of colours including red, and blue.

Acoustic foam sheet is also readily available in 2000 x 1000mm sheets in any given thickness. As an open cell structure material lending itself as an ideal material for sound deadening purposes, acoustic foam is used for acoustic treatment allowing it to attenuate sound waves by increasing air resistance, thus decreasing the amplitude of the waves. The energy is then dissipated as heat.
